THE CITY OF FREMANTLE is a local government authority located 20km south of the Perth CBD comprising the suburbs of Beaconsfield, Fremantle, Hilton, North Fremantle, O'Connor, Samson, South Fremantle and White Gum Valley.
The Town of Fremantle Council was founded in 1871 and it wasn't until 1929 that it gained city status. Today, the City employs more than 400 people and services approximately 30,000 residents over a land area of 19 square kilometres.
We pride ourselves on responsible social, economic and environmental management and in 2009, Fremantle became WA's first carbon neutral city. In September 2014, Fremantle became one of only two councils in Australia to achieve national One Planet certification for sustainability.
The City also has a strong focus on arts and culture and owns and runs the iconic Fremantle Arts Centre and world-renowned festivals including Australia's oldest festival, the Fremantle Festival.
    ABOUT THIS TENDER:
The Naval Store located at 141 Queen Victoria Street, Fremantle was a former storage facility for the Australian military with a strong association with the Artillery Barracks and coastal defence prior to World War Two. The building was constructed in 1935 and has cultural heritage significance with much of the original building fabric intact and the original gantry rails and equipment still extant internally. It is a symmetrical two storey building in the Inter-War style with gabled ends, rendered brick walls, steel structure and high level windows. The ancillary building to its west is not included in this scope of work.
The building is in need of conservation to address the ongoing deterioration due to weather, age and vandalism. In addition, the building's classification will change from a Class 7 store facility and adapted to Class 9b, 5 and 6 for use as a restaurant, workshops, office and climbing gym.
The final fitout works will be carried out by others and not included in this scope of work.
The scope of this project is to undertake essential conservation of significant building fabric and install the necessary upgrades for the change of use for compliance with the current Building Code and Australian Standards. New works include the provision of new public amenities, end of trip facilities and storage.
    MANDATORY SITE MEETING:
Location: Naval Store on 141 Queen Victoria Street, Fremantle.
    Date / Time: Monday 27 February 2017 at 2:00pm.
Please confirm attendance with Kevin Porter on (08) 9432-9612, or email: kevinp@fremantle.wa.gov.au - minimum of 2 hours prior to the meeting.

Rotorua Lakes Council in collaboration with Netball Rotorua has identified an opportunity for development of the Rotorua Netball Centre in the Westbrook Recreation Reserve, with the aim of hosting more events. To do so, an upgrade of the courts to Netball New Zealand standards is required.
To achieve the standard required, the court area requires resurfacing of eight premier courts to standard dimensions. Civil Works including extension of court area and drainage improvements are being undertaken in advance of this resurfacing works contract to facilitate the upgrade.
In collaboration with Stakeholders and as per the Netball New Zealand Guidelines for court consistency, slip resistance and shock absorption, a cushioned hard court surface using a prefabricated rubber mat system is sought. The Rebound Ace HSA Club surfacing system is considered to be an appropriate system, though systems that meet the equivalent performance criteria will be considered.
The contract award is contingent on funding. A firm price is required for the funding application for this work. As such, the selected tender will be informed of their status as preferred Tenderer until such time as funding is available and the contract is awarded.
The program for the work is to be mutually agreed within the dates of 1st October 2017 to 1st March 2018. Tenderers are requested to provide an indicative program of works.
The work in this contract includes:
Resurfacing of eight standard dimension netball courts including umpire and runoff zones covering approximately 7900 m2. Provision to resurface the adjacent non-standard courts (approx. 5100 m2) Including:
    - Preparatory work to the existing asphalt substrate
    - Application of cushioned composite court surfacing layers (Rebound Ace HSA Club or equivalent)
    - Linemarking to Netball NZ standard dimensions

    UNSW-749690
    Notice Type: Expression of Interest

    Region: New South Wales
    Closing Date: 16/12/2016

    ABOUT UNSW:
Established in 1949, the University of New South Wales is one of Australia's leading research and teaching universities. UNSW is a founding member of the Group of Eight research intensive universities in Australia. For more information about UNSW, please refer to the website at www.unsw.edu.au

    ABOUT SIRF:
UNSW Solar Industrial Research Facility (SIRF) goal is to increase the value of UNSW's research to manufacturers. It adds value by enabling research on industrial scale equipment and processes. This shortens the learning feedback loop for applying research to manufacturing and demonstrating the technology.

Partnerships with companies (Roth & Rau, Suntech, CSUN, REC, BT Imaging, LG, Sunrise) and government (ARENA) allowed the installation of the initial pilot manufacturing capabilities in 2014. Since then some equipment has been added.

The "Torch Innovation Precinct" (Torch) initiative intends to set up a collaboration precinct by 2020. It will bring together the research community, industry, entrepreneurs, government and investors. The aim is to foster innovation and speed up commercialisation of new technologies.

Starting in 2016, a "prototype incubator" of the Torch Precinct will be set up on UNSW campus. The SIRF is planned to be part of this prototype, since it is designed for industrially relevant R&D, and is currently up and running.

There are a number of tools that need to be installed to increase its value as part of the prototype incubator. In particular, industry partners and SME entrepreneurs need to be able to complete their experimental work in the SIRF lab.

    ABOUT THE EOI:
Respondents are invited from select suitably qualified Contractors for the provision for the Expression of Interest (EOI) in becoming prequalified to be on a Panel of Specialists to be able to receive and respond to Request for Tenders (RFT) for specialist works for the SIRF Torch project on the following capabilities: design, construction, design and construction, maintenance and peer review.
