QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY. RADIATION CERTIFICATION CONTRACTOR. INVITATION TO OFFER.
    Number: RFO0032017.
Tender Overview: The Queensland University of Technology (QUT), is seeking a contractor to provide Radiation Certification Services by appropriately accredited persons for a period of 5 years.
QUT has developed a streamlined approach to supporting radiation research activities by aligning the organisations radiation management closely with the requirements of the Radiation Safety act 1999 and Radiation safety Regulations 2010.
Depending upon the specific operational circumstances, QUT is obliged to seek Certificates of Compliance for all of the following:· radiation sources in their possession
    · premises where radiation sources are used
    · premises where radioactive substances are stored.
Certification of compliance with the relevant standard is required before initial use of a source or premises, and periodically thereafter at intervals specified in section 9 of the Radiation Safety Regulation 2010.
A significant objective of the Radiation Safety Act 1999 is to protect persons and the environment from the risks associated with exposure to radiation. One of the requirements put in place to achieve this places obligations on QUT as the possession licensee of radiation sources to ensure that radiation sources and the premises within QUT are used or stored comply with radiation safety standards before their first use and periodically thereafter. To verify that equipment and premises meet the relevant standard, these compliance checks must be conducted by an accredited person.
QUT now seeks the services of a contractor to provide initial and periodic verification that standards within QUT radiation practice areas are being met

THE CITY OF FREMANTLE is a local government authority located 20km south of the Perth CBD comprising the suburbs of Beaconsfield, Fremantle, Hilton, North Fremantle, O'Connor, Samson, South Fremantle and White Gum Valley.
The Town of Fremantle Council was founded in 1871 and it wasn't until 1929 that it gained city status. Today, the City employs more than 400 people and services approximately 30,000 residents over a land area of 19 square kilometres.
We pride ourselves on responsible social, economic and environmental management and in 2009, Fremantle became WA's first carbon neutral city. In September 2014, Fremantle became one of only two councils in Australia to achieve national One Planet certification for sustainability.
The City also has a strong focus on arts and culture and owns and runs the iconic Fremantle Arts Centre and world-renowned festivals including Australia's oldest festival, the Fremantle Festival.
    ABOUT THIS TENDER:
The Naval Store located at 141 Queen Victoria Street, Fremantle was a former storage facility for the Australian military with a strong association with the Artillery Barracks and coastal defence prior to World War Two. The building was constructed in 1935 and has cultural heritage significance with much of the original building fabric intact and the original gantry rails and equipment still extant internally. It is a symmetrical two storey building in the Inter-War style with gabled ends, rendered brick walls, steel structure and high level windows. The ancillary building to its west is not included in this scope of work.
The building is in need of conservation to address the ongoing deterioration due to weather, age and vandalism. In addition, the building's classification will change from a Class 7 store facility and adapted to Class 9b, 5 and 6 for use as a restaurant, workshops, office and climbing gym.
The final fitout works will be carried out by others and not included in this scope of work.
The scope of this project is to undertake essential conservation of significant building fabric and install the necessary upgrades for the change of use for compliance with the current Building Code and Australian Standards. New works include the provision of new public amenities, end of trip facilities and storage.
    MANDATORY SITE MEETING:
Location: Naval Store on 141 Queen Victoria Street, Fremantle.
    Date / Time: Monday 27 February 2017 at 2:00pm.
Please confirm attendance with Kevin Porter on (08) 9432-9612, or email: kevinp@fremantle.wa.gov.au - minimum of 2 hours prior to the meeting.
