Council exclusively owns the Moonride Mountain Bike event brand that is trademark protected through the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office under Class 41 for organisation of competitions and sporting and cultural activities.
The purpose of this REOI is to invite Expressions of Interest from parties interested in taking ownership of the Moonride Mountain Bike event brand. Council is seeking to transfer ownership of the event trademark to an event organiser who will re-position the Moonride to once again become an iconic event offering for the city.
Expressions of interest should include a high level event concept. Ideally the concept would be: · based as closely as possible to the original event concept;
· innovative and transformational to re-position the event within the competitive mountain biking events market; and
· assist Council to deliver on Vision 2030 - the Rotorua Way.
Council would like to receive EOIs for the event that are not only innovative, transformational and achievable but will also assist Council to achieve our wider goals for events in Rotorua including:
· strengthen community engagement and grow community pride in our place;
· reflect Rotorua's strong and unique culture;
· generate economic benefit for the city;
· make use of Rotorua's unique environment.
The intention is to shortlist from the initial expressions of interest and, depending on the level of interest and standard of EOIs received, invite shortlisted parties to present their event concepts in more detail.
